Thank you for your interest in going to China.
I can now let you have some more details on this special trip.

We will be spending our time in Hangzhou, a large but very beautiful city. Hangzhou is famous for the West Lake, and the surrounding hills and temples are wonderful to explore.

Accommodation
We will be staying in a pleasant hotel about five minutes walk from the hospital. The price is based on two people sharing a double room.(If you are coming on your own and the numbers dont pan out then you need to budget for this extra cost) Single rooms are available for around £135 extra. The rooms are twin bedded and have en-suite facilities fridge and TV.

Flights
Flights from Heathrow to Shanghai are direct and the carrier is usually Virgin. We fly out on August 28th and back on September 14th.

The Course
We will have 10 days clinical training in China at the Hangzhou Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Students will work with a Doctor in the outpatients department in either Herbs, Acupuncture or Tui Na. There will also be an opportunity to observe in-patients on ward rounds as well. Translators will be provided where necessary.
This is a unique opportunity to improve your clinical skills and observe TCM being used on the 'front line' within the hustle and bustle of a busy hospital (annually there are 8,000 outpatients, 10,000 inpatients).

There will be two lecture afternoons during the fortnight. These are given by very experienced Doctors who are specialists in their field.
The group can negotiate topics.

Certificate
The Hospital will issue certificates to students on completion of the course.

Social Events
The Hospital will organize a sightseeing tour at the weekend to such places as the museum of TCM, Taoist temples etc.
There will also be trips organized to the night market, the Silk market and Lingyin Temple (one of the most famous temples in China)
There will still be plenty of time to explore on your own though if you wish!
With the extended weekend at the end of the trip its possible to visit a variety of places in China. Students have visited Shanghai, Beijing, Xian and various other destinations. Its also a good time to just relax and enjoy Hangzhou if you wish. At the end of the course there will be a closing ceremony and banquet.
